Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Grade: A
Premise: Sirius Black is on the loose and out to get Harry...Or is he?

The first twenty minutes of this movie blow but the last two hours are very fun. The director decided to leave out some major points of the book but it doesn't diminish from the quality of the movie (although HP purists like moi will find themselves irritated by the lack of explanation of need to know minor facts). Much darker than the other two. There are more "background" magical things brought into this movie which makes it fun. Less Snape than I would have liked but the actor brought in to play Lupin is fantastic. New Dumbledore, Michael Gambon, fills Richared Harris' shoes quite well. The CG effects far exceed those of the first two movies - even though they are done by ILM who usually suck things up (see Star Wars 1 & 2 for examples).
